About
The Stingray Swim Team
The Stingray Swim team makes their home at Collins Hill Aquatic Center in Suwanee Georgia. The Stingrays compete in the North Georgia Swim League. The North Georgia Swim League is a summer league that focuses on swimmer development as well as competition. The league was established over twenty years ago and encompasses teams from Winder, Dacula, Commerce, Cumming, Jefferson, Athens, Habersham Co and Hartwell. The league has age groups from 6 and under up to the 15 to 18 group. The league swims duals meets as well as 4 league wide meets.
League wide meets include:
- NGSL Splash Meet
- NGSL Invitational (for novice swimmers only)
- NGSL Pentathalon: 5 Events
- NGSL League Championship Meet
The Stingrays are a developmental team. We are not a substitute for swim lessons, but we do take new swimmers and introduce them to the wonderful world of competitive swimming. The team size averages around 130 swimmers. The Stingray swim team prides itself on being a positive environment for team sports. We believe in hard work while having fun too. We use the fundamentals of The Positive Coaching Alliance and E.L.M. Tree of Learning as foundations for our program. We utilize our older swimmers as junior coaches to assist the staff and serve as mentors to younger swimmers on the team. We have expectations for parental behavior at practices and especially meets.
The 4 cornerstones of being a Stingray swimmer are:
- Do your best in practice and at meets.
- Show great team spirit.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship to teammates, competitors, coaches, officials and parents.
- Most of all, have fun!
While having fun, the Stingrays won the NGSL League Championship meet in 2008 through 2013, 6 years in a row! Come and joins us!
